Bushfire Task Force
On March 24 1995, the Minister for Emergency Services, Gary Humphries
MLA, announced the formation of the Bushfire Task Force. The Chair is
Mr Graham Glenn AO; a former Secretary of the Commonwealth Department
of Industrial Relations and the Chairman of the A.C.T. Electoral
Commission.
Other members of the Task Force are:

Peter Lucas-Smith (C.F.C.O. of the A.C.T. Bushfire Service)

Sandy Sandison (Chair of the A.C.T. Bush Fire Council &
representative of the NSW Farmers' Federation)

Geoff Butler (Society of the Growing of Native Plants)

Michael Lonergan (Former Deputy Chair of the A.C.T. Bush Fire
Council)

Craig Darlington (Director of the Conservation Council of the
South-East Region and Canberra)

Linda Webb (Director of Environment & Conservation,
Department of the Environment, Land & Planning).
The terms of reference are:
1. Review current practises for bushfire fuel management in the
A.C.T.;
and
2. Recommend appropriate policies and practices for bushfire
fuel management in the A.C.T. having regard for the protection of
life and property, environmental and conservation issues.
