A.C.T. Strike Force - Yass River Road

Around 8.00pm Monday 22 December 1997 an Australian Capital Territory Bushfire Service Strike Force left to assist New South Wales Rural Fire Service Units at a bushfire about 20km south-east of Yass.

The fire which started around 2.00pm at the junction of Yass River Road and Corrigans Road, burnt out around 3000 hectares of pasture and scrub with some stock losses.

The Australian Capital Territory Strike Force was lead by Andy Fulton (HALL 1) and consisted of 7 Bushfire Units manned by 25 volunteers from Hall, Molonglo, Gungahlin, Jerrabomberra and Rivers Brigades.
