ACT Community Protection Medal - 2008

On Monday 17 March Simon Corbell, the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, awarded this year's recipients of the ACT Community Protection Medal at a special ceremony at the ACT Legislative Assembly, as part of Canberra Day celebrations.

The ACT Community Protection Medal is an annual award given to one recipient from each of the five ACT’s emergency services which protect and serve the ACT community: ACT Policing; the ACT Ambulance Service; the ACT Fire Brigade; the ACT Rural Fire Service and; the ACT State Emergency Service.

The 2008 recipients are:

• Superintendent Alf Turketo (ACT Policing)
• Mr Grant Hogan (ACT Ambulance Service)
• Senior Firefighter Jeffrey Dau (ACT Fire Brigade)
• Ms Virginia Dixon (ACT Rural Fire Service)
• Mr Warren Backhouse (ACT State Emergency Service).
