On Friday 13 February 1998 the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Mr Gary Humphries officiated at the commencement of the commissioning of the A.C.T.’s new Gungahlin Joint Emergency Services Centre (JESC).
The Centre is located in the Gungahlin Town Centre and will provide a centrally located complex with shared facilities consisting of a Volunteer Bushfire Brigade, and Emergency Service Depot ,a Police Station, Ambulance Station, and a Urban Fire Brigade Station.
The co-location is a new approach for the A.C.T. in locating operationally the 5 emergency services in the same complex and is believed to be an Australian "first".
