| The McIntyres Fire threatened to jump containment lines in NSW, putting the north side on alert. There were numerous responses to possible fires by crews but all were false alarms caused by the high level of public apprehension. |

Most of the fire threats had now subsided in the ACT. Units
were being deployed to the southern part of the Territory
where there was still active fire.
The Forest Fire Danger Index on Sunday 26th was up into the ‘Extreme’ range again. |

| Bushfire and Emergency Service crews were now able to start a gradual wind-down, relieving personnel and allowing them to catch up with their families and to assess their own losses. The Queensland taskforce prepared to return home. |
