In time, nature, after a few good rains will
be seen to repair itself and flush the countryside with a
velvety green; but to see the homes and works of man wrecked
on such a scale crushes one’s soul. Stromlo forestry
settlement was once a friendly ramshackle collection of
buildings and homes that was well done over and rendered a
shambled junkyard amid stark lifeless pine trees.
